大脑皮质下层是脑髓质，即灰质。脑髓质又称本能脑,下意识脑,旧脑,低等脑,和情绪化脑

脑髓质比脑皮质含氢质子的数目少10％左右，其T1和T2值较皮质为长，故T1WI上脑髓质信号高于脑皮质，而在T2WI上侧低于脑灰质。脑脊液的主要成分为水，在T1WI为低信号，T2WI为高信号。脂肪的氢质子分子结构不同于水，在T1WI和T2WI上均为高信号骨皮质、钙化和脑膜因缺少水分，在T1WI和T2WI上均为低信号。

(2)连合纤维：即胼胝体。

(3)投射纤维：主要是内囊。

内囊：位于背侧丘脑、尾状核、豆状核之间，由上行的感觉纤维和下行的运动纤维构成。在脑的水平切面上呈“＞＜”状，分为内囊前肢、内囊膝、内囊后肢三部。

1)内囊前肢：位于背侧丘脑与尾状核头部之间。

2)内囊后肢：位于背侧丘脑与豆状核之间。主要有皮质脊髓束、脊髓丘脑束、视辐射等纤维束通过。

3)内囊膝：位于内囊前肢和内囊后肢交汇处，有皮质核束通过。
脑髓质-大内囊内囊 a: 位置：位于尾状核、豆状核和背侧丘脑之间。在大脑半球的水平切面上呈“>
