山雨欲来风满楼

三十年前， 我在山大英文系三年级。由于种种原因我几乎不上课。原因之一是老师的湖南，湖北等口音我听不懂，其二是我的一个老师总是说‘你知道’，我想既然我知道，何必去上课。当然， 还有一些其它的原因。但有一门课，我倒是去了两次。那是紫老师的汉译英课。当时紫老师年龄好像是二十出头，长的好， 又会打扮。课程是秋天开的。我很兴奋， 因为当时天气还不冷，紫老师上课穿着裙子，漂亮的大腿露在外面。后来天冷了，紫老师也加了很多衣服。我就不去上课了。
我很清楚记得第一堂课紫老师用一个例子给这门课来了个开场白。她在黑板上写：
山雨欲来风满楼
之后问大家如何翻译。同时她提到不同的场合会又不同的翻译。她让大家想想就这句话本身应如何译。
她话没完， 就有一个同学举手：‘no pain，no gain’。
记得紫老师摇摇头， 好像是不赞同。阿八同学说：Unrest of wind before a wild storm。 ‘不错’， 紫老师说。 ‘Wind is ahead of rain’， 一个同学高呼着。‘Wind fulling a building before rain coming’， 又有个同学。忽然，彩虹同学举手：‘他们没把楼和山都译出来’。紫老师问：‘你说应该如何译？’ 彩虹拿出来她的翻译：
The house tumults as wind swirls,
Ushering in a storm from the hills
’好 tumults 用的好‘，紫老师嗓音提高了。‘老师，看我的’， 一个同学手里拿着一张纸：gusty wind whips through the tower and mountain rain follows after。‘whip 妙‘， 紫老师很高兴， ’有没有别的同学了？‘
’a mountain storm looms closer
as wind whips through the tower‘
一个同学喊到。’老师， 他偷了我的whip'， 方才用whip的同学迫不及待。他一说完，教室哄堂大笑。
’还有么？‘ 紫老师又问。‘the gusty wind heralds a raging storm’， ‘地道’， 紫老师夸奖。
‘my house be full of wind since the mt. rain', 一个叫志子的说。‘be？’ 有同学问。’根据场合‘，志子答。’‘我也来个be’， 侯子同学也喊了：
'Me and my roof be blown off if shit wind ain’t stop!'
全班同学又都大笑起来。紫老师脸红了。
等课堂快要结束时， 紫老师讲了她的理解，以及直译和意译。不知是不是因为她腿的原因， 我记不清她的翻译了。
那堂课给我留下深刻的印象。
