我这几周在看以毛泽东为主角，讲反第五次围剿，遵义会议，四渡赤水，的38集电视连续剧，叫“伟大的转折”，觉得很不错，学习了不少以前不知道的史实。我觉得当时的毛泽东和同行们很伟大，长征很伟大。
我还下单了一本英文的旧书，1987年写的，美国纽约时报记者 Harrison Evans Salisbury 写的 The Long March, 讲他和太太重走长征路，回忆当时长征场景的书。
在“伟大的转折”里面， 老毛用那个南橘北枳的典故来说明具体问题具体分析的重要性。我跟老公讨论了，
南橘北枳可以说成是：
“The same orange tree that thrives in the south will struggle in the north.”
英国英语有句话与之对应，叫”difference horses for different courses,” 或者简单说成是”horses for courses.”
老毛还讲到了具体问题具体分析，这可以说成是：
The same thing/idea that works in one place won’t work in another.
Or different things/ideas work in difference places/contexts.
我老公喜欢老毛说的，“百花齐放，百家争鸣/ Let a hundred flowers bloom, and a hundred schools of thoughts contend”
