Anyway, he is entitled to do whatever he likes, so I dont' really care.

I just feel very funny to read that he wants to write poem because he wants to "penetrate the main-stream" and rises up to higher social status. I never heard any Americans say they want to learn 相声(Cross talk),  just because they want to penetrate the Chinese main stream and get higher Chinese social status. They would learn it just because they enjoy it.
