I think it is a better idea to talk with him about it

You may feel unfair that he always picks cheap places but you need to know the reasons and his thoughts. What if he has a very tight budget? What if he has financial difficulties?

Some poeple go to cheaper places, not because they don't care about the other person, but because they really think he can't offord it in the long run.

Question is, if he does have financial problems, would you still date him?
