I do have lots of friends here. It is a intersting that I did not have many friends when I was in China (it was probably more than 5 yrs ago). I was anti-socilaized at that time.
After coming to overseas, I found out that I started to like socializing and making friends. I never feel comfortable to be too close to someone else, but feel comfortable to make friends. I mean I like to go out to meet friends at coffee-shop, bar, or anyplace except my home. I guess it is because that I left my parents long time ago (15 yrs ago), therefore, I have a clear line that I have my own friends, and I have my family who are behind me.
I guess this makes me feel more comfortable to have friends, but still keep space for myself.
I am not sure about your case, I guess you probably try to see whether you can develop some hobbies. I used to do lots of paintings and do lots of volunteer works for church before I met my fiance. Now, I do not have time for both of them. I stilll see my church frineds very oftern, but less than before. So, you may try to go to join some soical event group or some volounteer groups. Wish you the best.
