My experience: set a rule with my LG, and I transfer $500-1000 to my parents every 1-2 months. The key is that the amount of the money is too small to shock anybody. And I convince him that my parents' money will eventually be our  money (actually it is true).He seems to understand it , and no arguments come out so far.
