First of all, if he is really interested in learning Chinese, he can learn Chinese from you, doesn't have to go to China to learn.
Secondly, if he intends to go and can not even wait until you graduate, means he didn't care your relationship too much.
Thirdly, if somebody plan to leave the current situation (relationship or marriage), means he is not satisfied with the current situation. Thats why he wants to make a change. I don't think his intention is the language, he wants to take the advanture.
Forth, did he date you because of learning Chinese with you.....
If you let him go, your relationship is done.
