While some women might find a "serious man" attractive, I'd rather enjoy watching my children grow up with a loving father. My girls wake up on Sunday mornings to the sweet smell of fresh homemade pancakes. We roast marshmallows on our patio. Sometimes my girls go to school with crooked pigtails thanks to daddy's help. And when the girls are asleep, we enjoy some quiet time sitting by the fireplace. Ordinary, yes. Small goals, plenty. Not enjoying life as whole? Give me a break.
My father has always been completely devoted to his work. He's gained a respectable place in his field. As you have described, he had little interests in "recreation". I'd tell you, my mother has always been bitter about his lack of interest in spending time with her. Growing up, I just knew this wasn't going to be the life I want.
If a man cannot put me first in his life, if his work is more important, then he is not the man I want spend my life with.
Lastly, I am proud to say that my hu*****and is very devoted to his work. He gets all sorts of recommendations and praises. He has done so without sacrificing his family's happiness.
