I don't think you did anything wrong. I think you need to have a

serious talk with him. He is being too ridiculous. I can't believe a hu*****and could say that he wants to be alone in his 8 years anniversary day when his wife offered to take time off to accompany him, unless he doesn't appreciate the marriage any more.

Tell him that you did cry, because he hurt your feeling deeply, Tell him that even after 8 years of marriage, you still love him deeply, and you simply deserve be treated as a wife.
