they were just blown away by the fact that a foreigner makes compliments on them. LOL

When I was in high school, I went to a bookstore where a lady in her late 20s approached me. She must have noticed that I was reading a novel in English and she asked me to do her a favor.

She said that she wanted to ask someone out (most likely on a date). She wanted to meet him up at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). She asked me how to say that in English. I told her and she thanked me.

I always wondered how she is able to communicate with that guy (obviously a native speaker) if she couldn't even put that simple sentence in English.
