Currently, I am leading a small project in my company. There is two other software engineer (both Americans) work in my project. One of them is a new employee, but she has about 4 years experience, and a Master degree in CS. I think that our project is going smoothly, but I just got an email from my boss. He wrote:
Eva:
I want you to task Brandi in the same way that I've described above with respect to the XXXXX part of the XXX Reporting flag deliverable. Each day (by 3:00) she should provide you with a work product.
Eva: Let's make sure that she is well-prepared to support the XXXXX. This means
understanding Java Standard Edition
understanding Java Enterprise Edition
understanding XXX XX
understanding Oracle and PL/SQL
understanding Unix
Focus on Java SE and XXXXX for now
There are some things going on and I need to make sure that everyone is ready to move real fast soon.
How do you think of this management style? I think it is a bit too demanded. It is little strange to let other professional to report her product to me every day. I just told my boss that I thought let my team member report to me everyday is too often. He said how about every other day. From time to time, I lead a small team at work, but I never let anyone report his/her product to me. Maybe I am not a good team lead?
How do you like this management style?
