If your fiance wants a big wedding, he probably should pitch in a bit; Don't forget that you probably got a big diamond ring which may worth a half-year salary of yours.;-)
If it's you who wants a big wedding, not him; then your family should be responsible.
If his family is rich, then you can just sit there and enjoy the ride!!;-)
