Depends on what type of cancer, what stage of the cancer,

as well as how malignant the cancers are.

Also, there are some cancers don't response to regular chemotherapy, and need to use specifically targeted drugs.  There was an article regarding the subject published on "Time" a few yrs ago. Since it's not a research paper, it's easy to read for people who don't have medical background.
