it's been on the wrong direction for more than a decade, stop earlier is better than when it's too late.

The bigger problem is that the newly elected admin. doesn't give us any hope for a better new direction.  If there are no major concept and structural changes, even we "reset" the game, which means redistributing resources and wealth, the result would still be the same as what we see today.
