I think that you should have corrected him when he

misinterpreted your email. You talked about "seal the deal" and "home run"...etc in your original email, in his reply he interpreted that as you wanted to have sex with him. I think you meaning was asking him to make a commitment. If having sex was not your intention, you should have told him that is not what you asked in your email.

Your original email was tough, but seemingly he didn't get your point. Or he on purpose to misunderstand you email.
