About my first time of meeting my BF's family

My BF's family lives in another city and we went there for attending his cousin's wedding. Of course, I had chance to meet his parents and brother. First, we went to his parents house and his parents invited us for a lunch. Then his father started to complain: XX tells us very little about you... Our schedule was very tight since we had to see his brother and his god parents... So we stayed at his parents' house for a very short time.

Later, we went to the wedding and his parents were also there. His mom continued to chat with me. Later, she asked:" Do you have any family in XX (the city I live)? I answered: Yeah, my son and my mom. Apparently, she was very surprised and kept silent for at least 5 minutes before started another topic. Apparently, my BF did not tell them I am divorced with a kid.

Is it weird?
