totally understand your concern

I remembered that one OB/GYN told me that roughtly 70% of the men have HPV infection in the states. I don't know if this is
true. Because not all HPV infection can cause symptoms, it's kind of cleared off by itself for most of people. However, the
problem is that some people's immune system will not clear HPV like other do, even with the treatment. Those subgroup of
people can be infected for many years without cure. If they are infected with the aggresive strains, there are very likely (>90%)
that they will get cervical cancer. This is not all. Because the change of sexual behavior, there are increased percentage of people who
have head and neck cancer that is caused by HPV. A large percent of Anal cancer is also caused by the aggressive HPV strains.
Also, some scientists think the HPV DNA is always in your cells once you infected with it. Plus, unlike STD,  you can get HPV infection via skin contact (genital contact) beside sexual intercourse. It is the VIRUS that we are still learning about it.
