My baby boy has a nanny. She works at our house from 7:30am-5:30pm. We only pay her $100/day, inexpensive according to the hourly pay standard in my area, and we don't pay tax for her. We do give her 2-week vacation with pay every year. If we go on vacation, we still pay her.
Our nanny does a fantastic job. And she appreciates us by taking very good care of my baby. I guess it's all about understanding and respect. If you already feel uncomfortable with a nanny candidate, don't even go there.
It is important to have a good nanny because it's for your baby. I do agree that finding an experienced nanny is essential. Here is what I did before I hired our nanny. Just for your reference. I asked her to be my baby's nanny for half a day and observed what she did. Additionally, her reference letter and health report from her doctor.
Good luck for your nanny hunting. Again, it is not China. Things are different here.
