I beg to differ.

If I lived in China, I would use Chinese as the major communication tool for sure.

Unfortunately, I am living in the United States, whose "official" language is English. If I want to survive here, I have to master English and use it to express myself and communicate with others on and off the job.

In addition, the choice of language one uses while posting messages on a public forum like WXC is totally a personal choice. On the other hand, as a reader, one also have the choice of refusing to read any posts written in English or written by certain users such as me. That's totally Okay. This is a free country and we should respect that and each other's choices.

萝卜青菜,各有所爱。 Why bother?

Furthermore, I don not believe that practicing imperfect English on a public forum is a major problem. After all, we learn from our mistakes all the time. In fact, I love to correct typos in my or other's posts. It makes my eyes and mind sharp.

Last but not the least, I believe most frequent "posters" on KGHY have a spouse or significant other who speaks a language other than Chinese. Improving their English or German or French might help their relationship in the long run.

One muggle
