My daughter understands both English and Chinese. She started speaking English after she turned one, and Chinese after she turned two. I know that, for a fact, boys tend to speak later then girls. One of my American friends’ son couldn’t speak until he was 3 years old. Now he speaks very well. Being able to speak early or late is not a sign of being smart or not. I don’t think you need to worry about it. Your son is only 20 months.
