I think that proud of one’s identity is a human natural

You might have noticed that there are plenty of the Chinese in U.S are doing quite well. I mean, they are doing far better than the local people. Especially in our area, if you are going to the new upscale neighborhood, you can find a lots Chinese and Indian are living there.
If you have a child is going to school, then you would know that most of the Chinese kids are excellent in school as well. I agree with you that mostly is 个人奋斗的结果, not because we are smarter than other race. But that might have something to do with our tradition of hard working, flexible and emphasis education. Besides these characteristic, I also appreciate the other Chinese traditions such as respect our parents and the older people, honest, keeping promise, be kind to the others, sympathetic to the less fortunate people.
Africa is less developed than China, is that means all the African American should be shame of their heritage. Maybe you can do an experiment, ask some educated African American if they are proud of their identity.
