【一句话翻译】用非母语写作的英语作家（参考译文已加）

当我回首往事时，我的青春岁月似乎像早晨的暴风雪一样，在一片苍白的、重复的碎片中飞逝而去。

The days of my youth, as I look back on them, seem to fly away from me in a flurry of pale repetitive scraps like those morning snow storms.

 

注：

（1）这个句子摘自纳博科夫(Valedimir Nabokov)的著名小说《洛丽塔》（Lolita)。

（2）纳博科夫出生在俄国贵族家，俄语是母语，最初写作也是用俄语，但《洛丽塔》是用英语写的。为纳博科夫赢得国际名声的作品都是他在流亡美国后从俄语改用英语之后创作的，其中《洛丽塔》最著名。

（3）纳博科夫很小就在家里学习英语了，因为他家人经常在家里用英语和法语交流，所以纳博科夫自称是trilingual. 不过他也说他从俄语改用英语创作的过程是非常痛苦的，有如一个失去了七八根手指的人来重新学习用手拿东西。

（4）与纳博科夫不同，另一位用非母语创作的重要英语作家康纳德（Joseph Conrad）是成年后才开始学习英语的，非常厉害。

（5）纳博科夫说非母语创作者永远也不可能像母语者那么写作，但有一个好处就是有母语者所没有的新鲜感，或者说异样感觉。

（6）非母语的英语诗人达到非常高成就的好像还没有听说过，但有一天终会出现的，可能是你，或我，或她或他。
