According to a study by Matthew Bowker, a pedologist who is the co-author of a research paper published on Science Advances on Dec 8th, the surface soil on China Great Wall is covered by a “living skin”, comprised of minute rootless plants and micro-organism, i.e.  a biological soil crust, that is the source for the enduring of the legacy.
