苏轼【题西林壁】不识庐山真面目 英译

 

Su Shi 【Writing on Xilin Cliff】
（In iambic pentermeter）

 

In a transview ridges come and peaks on sides

Far and near, high and low, all are unlike.

Not recognizing Mount Lu's colors true   

Because it's merely where within you go. 

 

 

苏轼【题西林壁】

 

横看成岭侧成峰，

远近高低各不同。

不识庐山真面目，

只缘身在此山中。

 

Translation：

 

To view transversely, the mountains turn into ridges and on sides peaks,

They vary near and far, low and high.

If you can't recognize the real colours of Mount Lu,

it is only because you are located within the mount itself.
