We all realize that it's very important to know what to stress and how to stress, it is equally important to know what not to stress and how not to stress in spoken English, which is usually becoming the very challenging part in our English learning.

People normally don't stress the little function words which are necessary for grammar but less necessary for meaning: small prepositions, pronouns, helping verbs and the article (a, an, the) are usually not stressed in reading and spoken. If you stress a word or a syllable too much, if you pronounce unstressed vowels too clearly, you are confusing the natives.
