affluent people prefer to live in mountains or on top of valleys, or by beaches, as then they have more privacy and space to themselves. J is still young, and she chose to live around Manhattan instead of LIC, which is newer and more modern. But as she becomes more familiar with NYC, she may one day change. As a parent, I  wish that she would one day return to CA:))
