Twilight on An Autumn Day
1
The Sun set in a hurry.
Was he hastening to a weekend party?
A school of big birds searching in colorful clouds.
For what? Infinite and eternal beauty?
It's a wild goose chase.
That couple by the river almost found it.
After they returned home through a moonlit passage, the willow branches also trying to fish it out of autumn water, in vain.
2
Cooler days have turned grasses yellow.
Falling leaves sing a chorus only the fall can understand.
The nostalgia of a traveler grows stronger by the day, especially when he is intoxicated by twilight.
It's a sickness he can't be cured of as long as he is on the road.
There might be a cure though if he could somehow use the scythe of the moon to cut the threads bonding him and his hometown, and then ride the sail of the moon to go far away, never look back.
But why did he leave his birthplace in the first place?
Was it because something escaped from his life and he tried to track it down, country by country, town by town?
Here is a similar situation.
Ever since a fish unintentionally kissed a duckweed and left, the duckweed has been trying to chase it down, river by river, pond by pond, to no avail.
