I must add, though, that if one wants to be really good at English, Tagore may not be the best teacher out there.  He disliked English in his school years, and admitted himself: 

"That I cannot write English is such a patent fact that I never had even the vanity to feel ashamed of it. If anybody wrote an English note asking me to tea, I never felt equal to answering it. Perhaps you think that by now I have got over the delusion. By no means. That I have written in English seems to be the delusion. "

Yeats, who was familiar with Tagore's work, wrote that "Tagore does not know English."
