Sigh...

I often feel helpless when reading modern-style poems, sometimes even to the point of questioning my inteligence and soundness of mind. Assuming the poet is all right (she has to be), I must have dementia and schizophrenia at the same time. I seriously doubt about the pragmatism of translating poems as such. The poet's thoughts are so evasive and the the poem so packed with symbols of cultural subtlety that the poem is almost impossible for one from a different culture to fully appreciate.
However, I applaud LinMu for the courage to tackle the impossible and would like to offer my help for the improvement of the translation. There are two obvious mistakes:
1. "face an apocryphal white." "An apocryphal white" is a modifier of "face," which is a none here.
2. "scotch on the rock." It means scotch with ice.
