请教：如何理解这句，谢了！

特别是that he had little to say后跟那个冒号是印错了吗还是如何理解那个冒号？(Chapter 4 )

I had talked with him perhaps half a dozen times in the past month and found, to my disappointment, that he had little to say: So my first impression, that he was a person of some undefined consequence, had gradually faded and he had become simply the  proprietor of an elaborate road-house next door. 在过去一个月内我与他交谈有5，6次之多，但让我失望的是，我发现他的话较少，他给我的第一印象由一个来历不明的人，渐渐变成为一个精心经营隔壁客栈的老板。
