是的，Halliday的归纳是给人很大启示，语调能传授语法信息。例如下面句子的歧义通过语调就分清了：

She dressed and fed the baby.
可以理解成“她穿好衣服喂孩子”；也可以理解成“她给孩子穿衣喂饭”

 

但下面读出来得句子就没有歧义了：

She \dressed | and fed the \baby。
(“she dressed herself”）

She dressed and fed the \baby。
(“as well as feeding, she dressed the baby”)
