A loss is a loss—a lot of time especially according to sports, like a sport team, they say, well we lost the game but we did really well in some area , and someone would say  well  a loss is a loss , it is just meaning: you lose, you lose there is no good thing about that , if you lose a game, or if you lose money, it is gone , it is gone no matter what you say, like water under the bridge.
