A wave of fright struck me as I looked down and realized that I was half way on a vertical cliff. Pedestrians at the foot of the mountain appeared distant and tiny like ants. My legs started shaking. I held on to the banister which led all the way to the top of the mountain. I wanted to give up but I couldn’t because at this point going downhill was even more dangerous than climbing up. All I could do was take a deep breath, calm myself down and continue with the rest of journey. A few minutes later, I was already at the end of the steps. Looking back, I felt a great sense of accomplishment. The joy of success replaced the fear I felt moments before.
That was what I experienced on the way to the top of Mt. Hua. Obstacle/Difficulty we face in life is like a mountain hard to climb. It intimates us and makes us want to escape or give up. However, the difficulty only looks terrible. If we have the courage to face it, there is nothing hard to overcome. When you feel scared/intimated, just take it easy and keep going. Eventually, everything will be OK.
