It should be quite possible to organize the university life in such a way that students and teachers can communicate naturally on a daily basis. In this way, universities can truly be made a place full of vigorous energy, and at the same time providing rigorously education. In this way, universities can truly become a team in which young people fully appreciate how fun, energetic, and important intellectual work can be, and how closely related all modern achievements really are. Also only in this way, learning can truly be made part of life. Lecturing in class usually is prim and hollow, reciting boring and less effective. Only through conversation and interaction with scholars, one can understand how vigorous, how closely associated with all the fun and important things knowledge is. In fact, knowledge is an inseparable part of them, and is a close-knitted part of all “practical” and “relevant” things in this world. Reading might not be able to make one better at thinking, but in general, interacting with good thinkers makes one better at learning and thinking.
