用英语写散文跟写诗歌不一样，在散文里，要避免用韵。史蒂文曾经说过:“散文必须要有节奏…，但不能对称…不能成为韵文。”
英语散文写作里，应该避免出现下面这类句子。
(1) I read in his eye that it was a lie. (“eye”and“lie”)
(2) I fully intend to go on to the end. (“intend”and“end”)
(3) She would fain have forgotten these frivolous fancies, but they regularly returned. (“fain,” “forgotten,” “frivolous,” and“fancies”)
