How about I changed it this way:

Angelina Jolie delivered an Oscar-caliber performance, who totally disappeared into her role as a heart-broken but strong willed mom. Although her son got kidnapped, she never gave up her hope and had the guts to take on the whole corrupted LAPD to finally get the truth surfaced.
