读了聚义厅的贴,终于明白为什么要用fortress

fortress 有figurative meaning,  这里强调了两个意思.1. 里面很好, 是safe haven. 2.难以突破, hard to break in or out。而besieged 恰恰是crowd around, attack, harass, 围起来,想进去的意思. 所以besiged fortress用来指里面的想出去,外面的想进去,用来形容婚姻等很形象。
walled city 没由此意, 只是围起来的城市.城在中文语境里是可以指古代的城,城池,中国古代的城都有围墙, 但city在英文语境里没有这个意思,只是城市.

现在想来besieged fortress用的的确贴切。
