Look at Balkan now, separation and peace.

Muslim population in Serbia is less than 3% of total population after war.  Serbia is not rich, but safe, stable, people are dancing on the street all the time.  I've met the happiest people, great musicians and had the best dance party in Belgrade surprisingly.

People in Balkan had to fight a war and pay the heavy prices to have their own countries.  I doubt even if Tito had lived long enough, he could hold those countries together. He could then, but not now. Time is different now.
