In my opinions, 8 months is kind of short to get someone committed and have a baby together. But understandable since you are 38.

Give him another 6 months, and let things go on its own. If he loves you enough, he will talk to you about the baby.

With any possible ways, you need to know what you want, and how long you can wait.
