He is perhaps lonly and touched by your kindness that he has not received for a long time. Could you please be honest and sincere with him? Having a hug and keeping him company for lunch is not a big deal as long as you clearly tell him that you are not interested in anythhing more. I think he will enjoy having you around just the same.
