全国哀悼日 national day of mourning (ZT)

The State Council, China's cabinet, announced anational day of mourning would be held on Wednesday for the quake victims.

国务院宣布，为纪念地震遇难者，本周三将定为全国哀悼日。

文中的national day of mourning就是指“全国哀悼日”。

今天，全国各地的人们举行了多种mourning ceremonies（哀悼仪式），来纪念青海玉树地震的遇难者。根据青海省政府发布的通知，青海省内也将举行悼念活动。

National flags will fly at half-mast in Qinghai and local people will pay a three-minute silent tribute starting at about 10 a.m. Wednesday to those killed in the disaster.

青海省内将降半旗致哀，当地的人们将在本周三上午10点开始默哀三分钟，寄托对遇难者的哀思。

上文中提到了我们在哀悼日举行的两种纪念仪式，

一是flags fly at half-mast（降半旗），

另一种便是silent tribute（默哀）。

青海玉树地震发生后，各地人民纷纷解囊相助，参与各类donation activity（募捐活动）。

央视还在昨晚举办gala devoted to quake relief（赈灾晚会）， 为赈灾募集善款。
