It looks OK in the picture.

It looks more a canyon color than red, and the whole package looks mild and normal to my eyes. And it probably is for tall and skinny girls.

The top in the picture matches the skirt well.

Black shoes don't sound a good choice though. Any light colored ones will be better than black. Why not consider one of the colors in the skirt, except for the red/orange as you described? If you are not very tall, be sure to put on high heels, as high as possible.
