进展,发展, evolution,

发展, here stands for two words, probably misplaced in dictionary, or we used vaguely.

Evolution is a course of change and development,因袭和变革.

If taking only 进展 vs.进程, we may find out that evolution imply advance, such as from ape to human, while course is a neutral notion. such as you take a course from me, and got nothing : )

Thus, we Chinese mixed two different words into one,发展=进展, also=进程,

This "confusion-ism" is wrong, just like one miscall your name.
