As the man tried to swing the speed-boat round, the steering-wheel came away IN his hands.

请教：

1。此句如何翻译？

2。steering-wheel是不是与船体分离了？如果分离了，steering-wheel是在手里还是不在手里？上句里的in怎么翻译？

3。有的书翻译成steering-wheel从手中滑脱。那么为什么用in而不用from?
