"I am smarter than he"
"I am smarter than is he"
"I am smarter than he is"
Of the three sentences above, i've heard most of them but not the second one. It seems not proper in either spoken or written english except for purpose of rhetoric effect or in poetry.
"I am smarter than is he" sounds weird

than, other than, as, so/as...as 等很多用法(用在动词前)很难掌握
