能不能找到一本字典或者类似的软件,可以用来查询字和词的隐含意义?
As we know, an English word has connotation as well as denotation. For example, when I pay not much money for a pair of shoes, I can say, "This pair of shoes is inexpensive". Here "inexpensive" has positive connotation, which means "affordable". But if I say "This pair of shoe is cheap.", that implies bad quality, which is a negative connotation.
So the question is, when I learn new word, where can I find the exact connotations? Indeed, we can usually use the context to tell this word implies something positive, neutral, or negative. But I think a dictionary of this kind will help a lot.
Unfortunately I have been unable to find one (either paper or electronic). Who can help?
