I have a very close friend at your age with similar experience. But she's already lost her Chinese writing skill even though she doesn't have much Chinese accent. I have to speak English with her at all time, unless she wants to practice her "1st tongue".

Another friend of mine is a volunteer in our hospital. When first saw her I thought she's a CBC, but actually she's been here for only 4-5 years. She's really excellent in both English and Chinese, and even French. Because the city I live in is bilingual, most people here speak English and French. Once did I ask her: how could you handle these 3 languages so well and also outstand in schooling and social work?! She answered, because I work hard...tell you the truth, seldom can I have supper at home with mom, instead, I always eat on bus. She'll become a doctor shortly, is she awsome?
