For the love of the game and my hero too

Being an ‘avid’ amateur golfer, I found it is only natural to enjoy watching Tiger Woods play and to be his fan. It was an excellent golf weather day and I rode with friends a long way for a game last Saturday. 

It is exciting to be on any big golf event. On the 4^th hole, I was standing by the bunker and my hero Tiger walked right passed me. My friend whispered: you can easily grab him or hug him. Laughed at her, I yelled: “go, Tiger!”.  I felt the rush of admiration, as if I was only a teenager and following my idol. 

Tiger didn’t play so well that day and he played worse the following day, gave away his 3 days' lead and eventually lost 3 points to a Korea golfer, the 37 years old Y. E. Yang. Indeed, Yang played so well and he deserved the championship. But again, Yang did not have any psychological burden as Tiger did. He ranked 110 and Tiger was number 1. What he was going to loose anyway? Playing Tiger was already an honor. That fact probably made him relaxed and played his best game, shooting an eagle at hole 13. Tiger, on the other hand, was showing frustration from hole one. After seeing Yang’s eagle, he literally lost the morale.  

I always thought Tiger looked very handsome on the golf course, although my male friends totally not understand this remark. Jim who didn’t go with us asked me if Tiger’s arms were as strong as it appeared on the TV screen. I blinked: “Tiger had an excellent figure overall and a butt of steel.”. Jim laughed. I think he is jealous of Tiger. I would, if I were a man. Or maybe not. On the golf course, I saw a lot of young men shouted: Tiger, I am your biggest fan.  

I was wondering how it felt to be loved and admired by so many. Tiger looked very cool and just held his head low and minded his game. That made him lovable even more. 

When my American friends congratulated me Monday on Yang’s win, I simply said: I am in support of Tiger. Americans are so naïve.;) They thought just because Yang is Asian and I am Asian, I should be on Yang’s side. No, that’s just a wrong assumption. When you fall in love with your hero Tiger, you will forever love him. No matter what. Just like so many still loves Mickelson, even though he played horrible games recently. 

Besides, Tiger is so very cute.
