Much obliged for the joint effort of New Orlean Art Museum and Mint Museum, I had the rare opportunity to view many of master works, especially by Sargent, Mary Cassatt.
Th color in "Mrs. Asher B. Wertheimer" is similar to one of his representative works, portrait of Mrs. Swinton, http://jssgallery.org/Paintings/Mrs_George_Swinton.htm
which is a turning point for him, bringing many commission for the artist, who wrote a letter to acknowledge it.
This comparision may tell us that he, perhaps Mrs. Asher B. Wertheimer also, intended to emulate the previous one, but did not satisfy both of them. Since I viewed more than 12 times in the museum, gradually I found out some weak spots. The second portrait is more successful .
Viewing Sargent's "Mrs. Asher B. Wertheimer" for 3 months
